Enforces Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination
in Employment Act, Titles I and V the Americans With Disabilities
Act, and the Equal Pay Act.
Enforces various laws that prohibit discrimination in employment,
education, credit, housing, public accommodations and facilities,
voting, and certain federally funded and programs.
Collects and studies information relating to discrimination,
and submits reports and recommendations to the President and Congress.

and to provide technical assistance and enforcement.

Enforces Executive Order 11246, and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973, which prohibit discrimination, and require affirmative
action, by federal contractors and subcontractors.
Formulates standards and policies to promote the interests
of working women, and to improve their working conditions.

Provides information about the Americans With Disabilities
Act, including regulations, technical assistance, and accessibility
guidelines.
Hears and decides employee appeals of personnel actions taken
by federal agencies, including appeals involving discrimination
and reprisal for whistleblowing.
Enforces the National Labor Relations Act, which prohibits
unfair labor practices by employers or unions, and provides for
elections at which employees decide if they wish to be represented
by unions.
Administers the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended
by the Immigration and Reform Act of 1986, which prohibits employment
discrimination because of national origin, or citizenship status,
against U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and aliens with work authorization.
